This Saturday, Nov 1st, is World Vegan Day, and is also the annual Boston Vegetarian Food Festival, at Reggie Lewis Athletic Center in Boston (map).
This year’s speakers include:
- Blogger and cookbook author Sarah Kramer talking about her new book Vegan a Go-Go, “a cookbook and advice book for veg travellers.”
- Danielle Nierenberg from the Worldwatch Institute on “Meat Production’s Impact on Climate Change and the Environment” (the other inconvenient truth) (she authored their report: Happier Meals: Rethinking the Global Meat Industry)
- jae steele, the author of Get It Ripe: a fresh take on vegan cooking and living, which focuses on unprocessed, whole food ingredients
- T. Colin Campbell, the author of The China Study on the medical impact of plant-based diets
- Karen Dawn, the author of Thanking the Monkey (and founder of DawnWatch)
- Michael Greger, the author of BIRD FLU: A Virus of Our Own Hatching, and CARBOPHOBIA: The Scary Truth Behind America’s Low Carb Craze
- Hannah Kaminsky, the author of My Sweet Vegan and blogger at BitterSweetBlog
Like the festival as a whole, all the talks are free – see the schedule for times and for more detail. There will also be tons of food for sampling, and vendors who offer animal-friendly options.

I thought this year was a real hit! I was SO excited to meet Sarah Kramer and Dr. Campbell. I even got my copy of his famous book signed. Every year seems to get better and better. 😀
