The good folks at Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary hold a major event the weekend before the observance of Thanksgiving in the US. The basic idea is a major party where the Turkeys are the guests of honor rather than the main course: celebrating (and raising money for) compassion.
In addition to the food (main dish prepared by Isa Chandra Moskowitz) this year’s event includes:
- Music by Elizabeth Mitchell and Daniel Littleton (more commonly known as Ida)
- Comedy by Dan Piraro (of Bizarro)
- Paul Shapiro from HSUS and Colleen Patrick-Goudreau of Compassionate Cooks
As well as, I assume, various tours of the sanctuary and other opportunities to meet the animals they take care of.
We missed this last year, but we’re very much looking forward to being there this year.
