Ry Cooder is a long time favorite who still has a tendency to fly a bit under the popular radar (though musicians do tend to love him). This 1982 album I guess you’d call sort of mid-career though he’s still active so hard to say what that means – his 10th full length LP.

Includes Bob Dylan’s “I Need a Woman” and Curtis Mayfield’s “Gypsy Woman” as well as Carl Perkins’ “Blue Suede Shoes.” John Hiatt guests on guitar on “That’s The Way Love Turned Out For Me.”

My copy is a mid-eighties repress in the “Super Saver Series” (that’s me) via Bull Moose Records in Portsmouth NH. At this point I basically just pick up any Ry Cooder LP I run into that I don’t already have.
