Recorded in 1972 but not released until 2019. More of an album for completists, this is the first time Gaye had performed in a number of years (since the death of Tammi Terrell). It’s a bit uneven – sort of like a live rehearsal bootleg – but worth picking up if you’re a big fan of Gaye. His voice is wonderful and there’s some great moments, but he’s not entirely in synch with the band and you can tell it’s not a tight set.
It was recorded at the JFK Center for the Performing Arts (which had recently opened), on May 1st, 1972
