Echo & The Bunnymen, Echo & The Bunnymen, 1987 on Sire

Though it is self-titled, this is actually the fifth studio album from Echo & The Bunnymen. They didn’t quite have the same staying power as R.E.M., U2, or The Cure in terms of long-term output, but they were on my personal Mount Rushmore in the 80s. They were just effortlessly cool (or so it seemed to me at the time).

I saw them not too long ago (2022) at the House of Blues in Boston and these songs still sound fantastic. I love “Bedbugs & Ballyhoo” and of course “Lips Like Sugar.”

My copy—via Fly Vintage in Robbinsdale MN—is a Specialty Records Pressing issue
