Really one of the opening salvos in the “supergroup” trend of the late sixties and early seventies, after Al Kooper left Blood, Sweat & Tears and Stills was in transition out of Buffalo Springfield. It features Kooper throughout, with Bloomfield on side one and Stills on side two. Not sure why the cover credits “Steve” Stills versus Stephen.

Although Bloomfield and Kooper had played together on Highway 61 Revisited, the Dylan cover (It Takes A Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train To Cry) is on the Still side, as is the Season of the Witch which may be the most well known track from the sessions despite being 11 minutes long.

I’ve bought multiple copies of this over the years – it’s a common enough record to find but hard to find in good condition. This copy I got at an estate sale in 2023 in Swampscott, MA.
