I was such a huge fan of The Hurting, Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith’s 1983 debut album – I think it was the first CD I ever had (and it was recorded at such low volume I had to crank the CD player to hear it). After Seeds of Love, Orzabal and Smith split, and Orzabal went on to do some solo albums, but this was their first recording of new musicsince 20014’s Everybody Loves a Happy Ending.
I picked it up purely based on the bands legacy at Mystic Disc in Mystic CT and I’m glad I did – it’s wonderful to have them recording new music again and it holds up well. It’s not as revolutionary / world changing as The Hurting was, but I’m also not 13.
