It’s hard to overstate how critical this album and movie were – the impact on live music films, the impact on shows themselves (in staging and effects) and just the music itself. I recall it running for a very long time at the Uptown movie theater in Minneapolis – alternating Friday and Saturday nights with Rocky Horror Picture Show perhaps? (It’s also playing October 19th at the Cabot in Beverly).
It’s just been reissued and remastered, resulting in David Byrne, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth and Jerry Harrison all supporting various premieres, appearances, and interviews. The reissue is a 2xLP with 18 tracks instead of 9 – will definitely be looking for one of those. (The film’s also been restored in 4k, for its 40th anniversary).
