The Allman Brothers Band, Eat a Peach, 1972 on Capricorn

Third studio album from the Allman Brothers Band, with a mixture of live and studio recordings, including some from the Fillmore East performances in 1971. Released after Duane Allman died in a motorcycle crash in Macon Georgia. The extended “Mountain Jam” is spread across two sides, B and D.

The song “One Way Out” is actually by Elmore James and Sonny Boy Williamson – I didn’t even know that was its actual title (“‘Cause there’s a man down there, might be your man I don’t know.”).

Famous cover by W. David Powell and J.F. Holmes from Wonder Graphics out of Georgia – with no album title appearing on the cover (apparently it was still being decided upon when the graphics were finalized).

My copy via Vinyl Destination (RIP) in Lowell, MA.

  1. Kerm Weiske

One of many great productions by America’s best band ever!!

  2. If you have the opportunity to see Gregg’s son Devan. Omigod,! The incredible music this man makes. He looks like his dad and plays like his uncle and he is an incredibly nice guy too. Very appreciative of and generous to his fans. A real treat is to see an Allman Family Reunion with Dickie’s son Duane. The show is a night of Allman Brothers music played by incredible musicians. He introduces artists to the stage that are just amazing. Each are featured on a song then leave to wild applause. His current tour features Maggie Rose who rocks like the best. Plus the show includes Jimmy Hall who just Keeps On Smiling. The show I saw had Tai Wickenfeld on bass, a more than worthy substitute for Berry.
