Bowie’s second live album, following 1974’s David Live. It’s a 2xLP release, drawing on concerts from Boston, Providence, and Philadelphia. Playing with Bowie here are Carlos Alomar, Dennis Davis, George Murray, Adrian Belew, Simon House, Roger Powell, and Sean Mayes. (In essence the group that would be on Lodger).
Got criticized at the time for lacking the sense of a live album – there’s little audience noise and there are fade outs between tracks. There’s also just one photo used on the front, rear, and inside gatefold in different crops/treatments – not exactly deluxe packaging!
I’m something of a Bowie completist, but this would be one I think any Bowie fan would appreciate – stuff from Station to Station, Low, and “Heroes” but also still tracks from Ziggy.
My copy is a 1978 pressing from RCA’s Indianapolis plant, via A1 Records in NYC
