Debut album from Los Angeles power-pop band The Scooters, not to be confused with the German techno band Scooter. Not sure why they were called “The U.S. Scooters” in Germany and the UK – perhaps there was another Scooters active in Europe already?
Produced by Phil Wainman, the band included Larry Lee, Luke Zamparini, Robert Ferrero, and Bobby Dean Wickland.
Lostwaves wiki says this was their second album, following Blue Wave – but discogs has this as their first album. The copyright dates are 1980 (Young Girls) and 1981 (Blue Wave), but copyright year does not always equal release year.
There was a report in discogs that the cover model is a young Ione Skye, but I could not find any confirmation anywhere (she’d have been 10 when the album came out). (This article repeats the assertion).
My copy—via Kalóz Records in Budapest Hungary—is a German pressing on EMI America labels with some hype sticker / price sticker damage on the cover (bad removal by a previous owner).
