This is a posthumous release, based on material Jennings had recorded between 1973 and 1984 in his home studio with band members from the Waylors. The recordings were selected by Shooter Jennings and overdubs added to flesh out the production, but he has said the production was very minimal.
There’s a great episode of The Vinyl Guide podcast( Ep514: Waylon’s Lost Tapes – Shooter Continues the Jennings Legacy ) which you should check out if you’re interested in how the album came to be and what more might be coming.
Fantastic sound with some interesting covers, including Fleetwood Mac, JJ Cale, Hank Williams Jr, and Johnny Cash. Well worth picking up.
My copy—via Newbury Comics in the North Shore Mall—is the “Tiger’s Eye” vinyl limited edition.
