Recorded live at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, except for the “Angel From Montgomery” with Bonnie Raitt, which was taken from the Steve Goodman tribute concert, and “Souvenirs” which comes from an Austin City Limits episode.
It’s mostly Prine and his guitar, telling stories and singing songs – a bit of a filler perhaps between studio albums but worth it as all his recordings are.
My copy—direct from Oh Boy Records—is the 2020 reissue, which unfortunately is quite a noisy pressing. I’ve not found an original 80s pressing to compare it to yet, but the sound is a shame given how good the songs are. Discogs reviews suggest the original pressings sound better (but then that’s what they always say).
