Pixies were a Boston band, formed in the late 80s – Surfer Rosa was their debut full-length, following an EP (Come On Pilgrim). Pretty sure I saw them at Great Woods (now the XFinity Center) in 1989 opening for Love and Rockets.
It was recorded at Q Division Studios in Somerville (in the Highland avenue space now the home of Recorded Future), produced by Steve Albini, released on 4AD and distributed by Rough Trade in the US.
My copy—via private sale—is a reissue from 2004 on 200g vinyl.

I saw so many shows at Great Woods growing up.
Probably 50 or so?
All the BCN River Raves that were there, Bowie & NIN, a few dinosaur acts past their prime that came through, R.E.M., Rush, The Cure numerous times….
So. Many.
Even though I now live 3,000 miles away, I still call it Great Woods, and I’m surprised it’s STILL Xfinity.
I figured it would have changed 4 more times since then.
Also… I got to record in Q Division.
Another great memory along with my few visits to Fort Apache (the Edmunds Street location in Cambridge, not the Roxbury one).
I miss my hometown a lot sometimes, but only what it used to be.
It’s not the same, and hasn’t been for around 20 years.
