Each time I visit Minneapolis I try to find some Replacements vinyl, but it doesn’t always work out.
Dead Man’s Pop was released in 2019, including the previously unreleased Matt Wallace mix of what became Don’t Tell a Soul – later mixed by Chris Lord-Alge whose very name sounds made up to infuriate the Replacements, which he did. I love Don’t Tell a Soul as it was released, but it was also great to hear this alternate version. There’s also a CD of unreleased rarities and outtakes, including five tracks cut with Tom Waits in the studio.
My copy—via Fly Vintage in Robbinsdale MN—is the 2019 one LP / four CD edition. I don’t normally buy CDs at this point but the package is in a nice LP size box case. (Somehow I took only photos of side 2 of the LP). Also overlaps with the Complete Inconcerated I posted earlier.
