Reissue of 1969’s The Best of the Blues Project, which was on Verve Forecast. There is a whole series of releases titled Archetypes from the mid-seventies on MGM – not sure if they are all reissues or not.

Other artists in the MGM Archetype Series are: Charlie Parker, Tim Hardin, Billy Holiday, Blues Project, Velvet Underground, Hank Williams Sr., Small Face, and Allen Ginsberg

The Blues Project had a number of members over time, but Al Kooper (vocals, organ), Andy Kulberg (bass, flute), Danny Kalb (lead guitar, vocals), Tommy Flanders (vocals), Steve Katz (guitar, vocals), and Roy Blumenfeld (drums) get credits on this release, with Val Valentin as Engineer. These tracks all come from the first three albums – Blues Project was over almost as quickly as it began, though they continued under other names.

My copy—via Mystery Train Records in Gloucester MA—is marked as a DJ Not For Sale record with a sticker on the front and custom label.
