Although he was born in Georgia, I think of Kottke as another Minneapolis folkie. He’s one of the folks who, when I find an album I don’t have, I just buy it without question. He’s also still out touring and well worth seeing if you get a chance.

This was his fifth full length on Capitol and seventh overall (he’d previously put out a few on smaller labels), Ice Water charted in the US based partly in the success of the single “Pamela Brown.”

He is joined by Bill Berg, Bill Peterson, Bill Barber, and Cal Hand. They recorded in Minneapolis at Sound 80 Studios.
