Jackson’s most well know as the vibraphonist in the Modern Jazz Quartet but he also collaborated and recorded with many other bop musicians. Here he is joined by Lucky Thomson (sax), John Lewis (piano), Skeeter Best (guitar), Oscar Pettiford (bass), Kenny Clarke (drums), Barney Kessel (guitar), Percy Heath (bass), Lawrence Marable (drums), and Barry Gailbraith (guitar). (Lewis and Clarke had been originally in the Modern Jazz Quartet together). Really excellent mid-fifties Milt Jackson at his prime.
Recording supervised by Nesuhi Ertegun, brother of Ahmet the co-founder of Atlantic Records.
My copy is a 2019 reissue on Speakers Corner Records, which is a reissue label that reproduces the original artwork (so no indication on the pressing). Via Worcester Record Riot.
