McKee was the front woman for Lone Justice, who put out two albums in the 80s, but has gone on to a solo career that has resurged in the new millenium.
This is a really great and surprising record, including a cover of Neil Young’s “Barstool Blues” and “(You Don’t Know) How Glad I Am” which was made famous by Nancy Wilson in 1964.
It’s an album to sink into, a meandering journey set against a backdrop populated by well-drawn characters who are brought to life through some all-too-familiar hard luck yarns, with Maria’s voice multi-tracked for maximum plushiness”

My copy is the 2022 vinyl issue on Fire / Afar, released as part of Record Store Day. (Although it was released by the label Cooking Vinyl in the UK it ironically only came out on CD in 2005). Fire is an independent UK label – Afar seems to been created as a sublabel (imprint?) just for reissues of Maria McKee albums.
